Since The Sims Social launched in August, the popular online Facebook game has dominated the social media gaming charts, hurtling straight to the number two spot, knocking out the heavyweight competition like Farmville and other Zynga titles. Although at a steady decline over the last couple of months, The Sims Social has managed to stay ranked as the second most popular online Facebook game in the world since its birth, until now.
EA and Playfish have proved that Zynga can indeed be toppled, but it seems the gaming giant has not and will not be put to rest, as rival game Farmville also created by Zynga has leap frogged back up the Facebook gaming charts and taken back The Sims Socials silver crown, with many players returning to tend to their crops.
All is not bad for The Sims Social however, as the diminishing numbers of active monthly players seems to have ceased and levelled out at 30 Million hardcore fans. We know Playfish has made many very good changes to The Sims Socials game structure over the last month and have listened to the die hard players of the virtual life game, which seems to have stopped the decline, but Zynga seem to still remain the king of social media games and it will take our favourite Facebook game and its developers to continue their great work to pull the stragglers back in.
The Sims Social Fansite will not be going anywhere, as we love The Sims Social and praise Playfish for the much needed enhancements and game changes of late and know that Zynga have not heard the last screams of Simlish nipping at their heels. What do you think about The Sims Socials drop in the Facebook charts? Do you agree that the developers have made some great changes to the game over the last month? Will you be leaving Littlehaven to revive withered crops? Let us know in our Comments section below or via Facebook or Twitter.
