If you have had any part in social gaming over the last couple of years, you will have almost definitely come across the name 'Zynga' who are the creators of the massively popular games like Mafia Wars, Farmville, Cityville, YoVille and FrontierVille among many others. They are by far and away the biggest social gaming company in the world with an estimated yearly profit margin of $250 million in 2010.
News is circulating the web about the acquisition of a new website Familyville.com by Zynga, which seems like there answer to The Sims Social and will more than likely be Zynga's answer of direct competition for EA.
Can the pulling power of the global franchise 'The Sims' be strong enough to compete with this industries leading giant? Only time will tell. Although I'm sure development for Familyville is in its early stages, this will almost definitely be adding extra pressure on Playfish and EA to release The Sims Social to Facebook and be the first out of the starting gates to pick up those essential loyal fans.
Hopefully a big couple of days for our already favourite online Facebook game with the newest rumoured release dates of the 28th / 29th June and nearing the 500,000 'Likes' benchmark.
