The dawning of another supposed release date for The Sims Social has come and passed. In its wake, a massive wave of "likes" washed over the site and brought them to their fifth tier goal of 500,000 - unlocking the fireplace.
With the halfway point of it's massive goal reached, the makers have put out a new contest letting the fans design something and the best out of all of them will be put in the game. Ideas must be submitted by July 5 here, causing more speculation and uproar about the still unstated release date. Do we think that it will release then? Probably not. The new items and features that they pick to design from the people's submissions must be created and then inserted into the game; although, that won't take long to do for a massive company like EA, they still have to tweak everything. Besides, they'll probably put out a release date to attract more attention to the game and to maintain a solid player fan base so that their simulated world will always be populated. Estimated time till release: probably a month.
For now, we know that they're in closed beta and that the game is on Facebook, just not open to everyone. How long that closed beta will last is a mystery, other games' closed betas range from a month to a year. Really, all we can do is sit tight and be patient remembering that any news they feed us is one step closer to bringing us the game.
Although we at The Sims Social Fansite do not believe there is a high chance of it happening, check the site around 12am Pacific time. If today is the day, then it will most likely be at that time, and if not, then there's always July 5th to look forward to. For now, we leave you with this.
